Christie Gardens in Toronto
After a comfortable flight courtesy of British Airways I am now in Toronto staying as a guest of the Christie Gardens Retirement Community. My host is Grace Sweatman, CEO. This is an outstanding facility close to the centre of Toronto consisting of beautiful retirement living apartments and long term care accommodation. The delightful guest accommodation I am staying in is worthy of a 4 star hotel.
Grace tells her own story here:
"Christie Gardens has reached a very significant milestone — we've been privileged to serve our community for 25 years!
We plan to celebrate our 25 years with various gatherings throughout the year — including a picnic in August to honour our long-time residents and staff, and a gala celebration in December.
Our December Gala will launch the Christie Gardens Foundation which is being established to distribute funds for the care of residents who may need financial assistance. The Gala will also give us opportunity to share and reflect on our 25 years of service.
Speaking of milestones, recently I was elected to serve as President of the Ontario Long Term Care Association (OLTCA). This association represents 430 member homes throughout the province of Ontario, serving almost 50,000 seniors in Long Term Care.
It is an honour for Christie Gardens and for me to be actively engaged in advocacy on behalf of owners and operators and the seniors we serve.
At the heart of Christie Gardens are the people who choose to live and serve here, a special place year round. Christie Gardens is home to some of the nicest people in the world! We invite you to contact us and see for yourself what Christie has to offer in new experiences, new joys, new friendships and a new purpose."
Grace Sweatman, Chief Executive Officer
