Welcome our new Non Executive Director

Today our newly appointed non executive director, Heather Strawbridge, paid her first visit to Central Office following her appointment to the Somerset Care Group Board on 1 October This was a chance for Heather to meet members of the team and start to put faces to names. Over the coming months Heather will be visiting homes, bases and training centres as she builds her knowledge of all the activities of the Group.


Heather brings a wealth of experience from her earlier career in the banking sector, from a number of senior board appointments and from elected office in local authorities. Previously Heather was a Somerset County Councillor from 1993 to 2001 during which time she held several positions including Deputy Leader of Council. She was a member of Sedgemoor District Council from 1995 to 1999, and recently completed her term of office as Chairman of Connect South West. Her current appointments include Chairman of the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust, Governor of Bridgwater College, and Trustee and Director of the NHS Confederation. Heather lives with her family at Puriton, near Bridgwater.
